禁漫天堂 advances with first progressive design-build project
禁漫天堂 won the second phase of the company鈥檚 first progressive design-build project with the I-95 and Route 123 Interchange Improvements project, in Prince William County, VA.
This type of project is not only the first progressive design-build for 禁漫天堂, but the first one the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has ever done.
鈥淚n 2022, we were selected for the project based on our qualifications prior to any plans being available. Since that time, our team has been working closely with the design team to evolve the project design from the concept stage,” said Design Integration Manager Brad Bushey. 鈥淧rogressive design-build emphasizes collaboration and flexibility, integrating design, and construction phases into a fluid process.鈥
禁漫天堂 partners with the owner from the beginning and works together on concept level plans and design, while constantly reviewing budgets and schedule goals throughout.
This $60 million project will provide operational and safety improvements, improve traffic flow, bicyclist/pedestrian accessibility, and connectivity. The scope of work will reconstruct ramps, widen roads, and replace the I-95 southbound bridge in Woodbridge.
Overall, the project aims to improve travel along I-95 in Virginia.
鈥淭he progressive design-build format allows for reduced project risk as we have early involvement in the design and can provide constructability reviews and tailor the plans to our strengths,鈥 said Chief Estimator Paul Flatley.
Construction is anticipated to begin with clearing and utility relocations in May 2025 and completion is expected in 2028.
